Once stored in the computer's memory, the music can be manipulated in a variety of ways...


Picture of David scoring at his synthesizers. It can be stretched, squeezed, sped up or slowed down. Much like a word processor, David can cut and paste the music he has recorded. He can also experiment with different sounds by telling the computer to play parts back with different timbres.


Picture of David scoring at his synthesizers. To build an orchestration, David selects a new track and plays a new instrument part into the computer. When this layering process is complete, the computer can play all the parts back simultaneously. Or, individual tracks or groups of tracks may be selected so David can hear how different combinations of instruments sound together.
